yes, this is unsupported, but....

- when you say R8, do you mean 8 or 8.5?
- did you install into the same or different data directories?
- when you launch designer, is the regular or admin client already up? Are you running (it/them) in basic or standard mode?

This should help narrow things a bit to figure it out!
